The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining efficient, reusable, and reliable code, with built-in high performance, quality and security. Senior Software Engineers may take on Subject Matter Expert responsibilities, and act as a team leader for more junior engineers.

Job Description

The key responsibilities of the role include –

  • Work on Epics relating to the current product release
  • Work closely with your Development Manager in resolving high priority tickets and critical production issues with efficiency and perseverance.
  • Participate in and host daily stand-ups to effectively convey your value added to the product and future ideas
  • Organize planning sessions using JIRA to create user stories to complete the epic
  • Create an architecture (or utilise the existing product) to achieve the acceptance criteria from Product Managers
  • Discuss, negotiate and agree to project requirements with your Product Manager and Development Manager for each project
  • Create Automated System-level Tests on epic completion for maximum product coverage
  • Organize backlog grooming and sprint retrospectives with the team to increase velocity every sprint
  • Mentor and advise other team members on possible implementations and potential issues arising ie Transfers of Information (TOIs)
  • Working with support on existing products to ensure better customer satisfaction and a better quality product
  • Develop unit tests following Test Driven Development (TDD) principles
  • Support the development of team members by coaching and mentoring
  • Act as a key contact point for internal stakeholders
  • Responsible for providing data security, maintenance, support, protection etc.
  • Provide security solutions based on risk assessment.
  • Provide the best technology security practices for the company.
  • Ensuring that requirements in IT Audit, Standard, Policy, Compliance and Risk controls are met.

Desired Skills and Experience

The job requirements and qualifications required for the role include –

  • Expert level experience with one or more prominent languages such as C++, C#, TypeScript/JavaScript
  • Experience with one or more scripting languages such as Perl, Batch, Shell, Python
  • Experience with front-end libraries such as React is a plus
  • Building solutions knowledge: CMake, Cake, Microsoft Visual Studio, Eclipse
  • Working with various Operating Systems such as Windows, Linux (CentOS/RHEL),  NonStop (Tandem), Unix
  • Experience working with Version Control Systems such as Git
  • Database Knowledge: PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server
  • Hands-on experience in designing and maintaining Cloud solutions in AWS (preferred), GCP and/or Azure
